CASE STUDY 01
James Latham
Project Overview
Three years ago, Rodgers Electrical Services Ltd began working with James Latham at their Eurocentral site in Lanarkshire. Our initial project involved supplying and installing new external LED lighting to enhance security and visibility around the facility. The success of this installation marked the beginning of an ongoing partnership with James Latham, during which we have carried out multiple upgrades and improvements.
Ongoing Works
Following the success of the initial project, we were invited back to undertake a larger-scale lighting upgrade across the entire Eurocentral site. Our team replaced every light fitting within the facility with new, energy-efficient LED units, dramatically improving both the lighting quality and financial efficiency of the site. The switch to LED not only enhanced brightness and visibility throughout the premises but also significantly reduced energy consumption, contributing to lower operational costs and a more sustainable lighting solution.
Impact
This comprehensive lighting overhaul has transformed the James Latham site, improving not just the aesthetic and functional aspects of their workspace, but also helping to meet energy efficiency goals. By reducing energy usage and maintenance requirements, the upgrade has provided long-term financial savings while creating a better-lit and safer environment for employees and visitors alike.

CASE STUDY 02
Project Blackstart
Project Overview
Rodgers Electrical Services Ltd was commissioned by Mears and North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) to supply and install new changeover switches and combi tower inlets across nine key community sites. These sites included:
- Viewpark Community Education Centre
- Pat Cullinan Community Centre
- Charlotte Toal Centre
- Shotts Leisure Centre
- Muirfield Community Centre
- Garrell Vale Community Centre
- Pather Community Centre
- Gartcosh Hall/Community Centre
- Airdrie @Home Youth Centre
Project Scope
To support NLC’s emergency power plans, nine new generator sets were procured, each mounted on trailers for rapid deployment. We carried out comprehensive audits at each location to assess their power demands and ensure that the generators would comfortably supply temporary power during catastrophic grid failures. Extensive alterations were required to the incoming supply at each site, integrating the changeover switch seamlessly into the existing infrastructure. These tailored solutions meant each site could operate independently until the national grid could be restored.
Black Start Preparedness
This project was part of the wider Black Start procedure, a national strategy to restore power following a total or partial shutdown of the National Electricity Transmission System (NETS). We designed each site to accommodate the unique load and supply size, ensuring readiness in the event of a large-scale power outage.
Impact
The result is a robust backup power system across nine critical community facilities, ensuring continuity of essential services during major power disruptions. The images shown from the Viewpark Community Education Centre highlight the quality of the installations, which provide vital resilience for NLC’s community network.
